The Dangers of Starting Your Own Home Based Business

By: Steven Wagenheim

I know lots of people want to start their own home based business for many reasons. The lousy economy, rising gas prices and even lousy bosses are up at the top of the list. And honestly, I can't even blame you if you're one of these people. However, if you're going to jump into starting your own business, there are some dangers that you need to be aware of if you don't want to end up getting yourself into something that you're not quite ready for. I'm going to cover just a few of these in this article.

For starters, there is the danger of getting into a business that has no market. Some people will just dive into an opportunity because somebody gives them a good sales pitch. This is not a good reason to start something. You need to research your market and find out if there are people out there who really want what you're going to be selling. This is easy enough to do by taking surveys or even putting out a free report on the subject to see if people are even interested in getting that. If they don't care about the report, why should they care about what you're selling? Make sense?

Then of course there are the logistical problems of actually starting a business. There is product creation, sales page copy, and so on. All of this is an enormous amount of work and takes a great deal of time and money. If you're not good at writing sales letters then you're going to have to hire somebody to do it for you. These letters usually cost between $2,500 and $15,000 alone. For most people just starting a home business, these costs are way more than they can afford and because of that usually have to settle for second rate work or do it themselves. This is why so many people fail.

In my signature is a simple solution to this mess. Bottom line is this. If you're going to go into business on the Internet, don't do it blindly. Make sure that you do your research and ask questions. The last thing that you want is to get involved in something that has no future.

Believe me, I've been there and it's NOT fun.
